Lead Pharmaceutical Copywriter – newly created role

We are looking for someone who has extensive copywriting experience within health care, pharmaceutical, or device communications, bringing a combination of scientific knowledge, copywriting, promotional expertise, strategic insight, knowledge of industry regulations, and client-facing leadership to join our client’s Medical & Patient Comms division.  This is a newly created post which has arisen due to the continued growth of the company.

Role:                                    Lead Copywriter, Medical Communications / Pharma
Location:                             Home based in the UK (vacancy ref. 4766)
Salary:                                 Basic to max. £60,000 + package + 10% bonus
Client:                                  A market leading global organization focused on using data and science to help healthcare clients find better solutions for their patients; the company offers a broad range of solutions that harness advances in healthcare information technology, analytics and human ingenuity to drive healthcare forward, from phase III clinical trial stage through to patient adherence support programmes post launch.

This exciting role offers a high degree of project accountability and ownership and blends traditional medical writing and copywriting to transform complex, scientific concepts into engaging and memorable content; you will be responsible for creating copy for HCPs and patients/caregivers across multiple channels, including digital tactics.  This includes concepts, campaigns, branded and creative materials, whilst also participating in client and creative team meetings, MLR reviews, and pitches.  You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of deliverables ranging from detail aids, manuscripts, slide decks, to content for digital platforms and online channels such as social media posts, webinar promotions, and much more, in a company whose collaborative offerings extend well beyond those of a traditional medical communications agency, where you will work in multidisciplinary teams with colleagues specializing in patient support programs, real-world evidence, scientific communications, and commercialization to develop new communications solutions to help move healthcare forward.

Required capabilities and experience:

  • Experience communicating key data around brands in a variety of promotional materials
  • Ability to understand and translate complex clinical information into compelling, effective, succinct copy using language appropriate for the audience (HCPs or patients)
  • Previous work in a range of therapeutic areas and deliverables (e.g. promotional sales copy; patient disease or treatment education materials; patient support program materials; marketing communications; branded campaigns targeted to health care providers, patient and consumers; market access materials; REMS/RMP communications; training materials; and pharma advertising)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering client pitches as part of an account team
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Knowledge of market trends and government and industry guidance, including ABPI, EFPIA, OPDP, FDA, PhRMA, etc.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of healthcare communications business objectives, services and operating procedures
  • Ability to research competitors and marketplace to assess a condition, add market depth of knowledge
  • Awareness of health literacy principles and trends
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members, oversee team outputs, ensuring quality, compliance, appropriateness and profitability
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, whilst performing multiple tasks and prioritizing workload effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, clients and suppliers
  • Budgetary awareness
  • University degree in a communications-related or scientific concentration, demonstrated scientific acumen.
  • Eligibility to work on a permanent, full time basis in the UK.
